Musings from Debbie: Thundering sounds of Niagara Falls

Yeye had a dream to see the Niagara Falls. So on 5th Oct Thursday 2017, Jason drove us from where Ken Jon and Francesca lived in Mayfield Village to Niagara Falls. It wasn't too far - slightly over 3 hours drive through scenic forests in fall colours. We drove along the east side of Lake Erie to Buffalo and then to the Niagara River which forms the border between Canada and USA. The Niagara River drains Lake Erie into Lake Huron. There are 3 waterfalls in Niagara Falls. The largest is the Horseshoe Falls (Canadian ) and the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. The combined falls has the highest flow of any waterfall in the world . 168,000 m³flows every minute.

Upon checking into our hotel, we had a quick lunch and quickly drove to the Niagara Falls State Park. We took some photos on the high deck and then quickly boarded the cruise ship - " The Maid of Mist " which took us to the bottom of the 3 waterfalls.

It was very good weather - sunny with clear blue cloudless skies so we spent quite some time in the park .

Jason managed to get tram ride tickets for us so we had some rest for our tired feet. We went back to the hotel and rested and came again to the Niagara Park for the night view. Although this was our 3rd visit to the Niagara Falls but for Yeye - it was his first so we wanted to max the trip for him.

It was full moon that night. Back in Malaysia, you guys
were celebrating Mid Autumn Full Moon Festival.

Who is this?

We had really walked quite a great deal that day and night. Imagine we walked all the way from The American Falls to the Canadian Falls and went to Luna Island and back. We are thankful Yeye was in excellent health and able to walk all the way.

We had a leisurely American breakfast in the hotel.

Our hotel Double Tree Hilton is only about 150 m from Niagara River.
This is in stark contrast to our previous trip in 2015 to see the falls,
where we stayed so far away like 17 miles away in Buffalo.

We enjoyed the trip back because we stopped by major shopping at Fashion Outlets in Buffalo. The scenic route allows us to see Lake Erie at several sections.
